The client
Sip n Scoops Society caters events across the Wake Forest area as an authorized operator of two separate mobile-cart brands — Sodabox for drinks and Mama Birds Ice Cream for ice cream — plus a hot chocolate cart the owner created herself for winter and holiday parties. Every booking is its own small logistics problem, and now it's one that can span all three lines at once: a guest count, a lineup of recipes pulled from whichever brands the event calls for, and a shopping list of syrups, purées, ice, and dairy that has to add up to enough — without so much surplus that it goes to waste.
The problem
Before every event, the owner sat down and worked out the ingredient math by hand, separately for each brand: how many drinks a bottle of a given syrup or purée would yield, how many bottles that meant for the guest count and recipe mix she'd chosen, and how much ice or dairy to bring. It was arithmetic she could do — the problem was doing it correctly, from scratch, for every single event and every brand involved, including weeks where five events landed at once. - Automatic rounding up to real purchasable pack sizes, so the output matches what a supplier actually sells rather than a fractional bottle
- A pickup and prep list generated straight from that calculation, ready to shop and pack from
- Login-gated access, built from day one to extend to future employees rather than staying locked to one person’s knowledge
None of the individual steps are exotic — it is the same yield-ratio math the owner was already doing. What changes is where that math lives: once, in a system, instead of being re-derived by hand for every event.
